January Block

Here is my January block for One Block Wonder.

I am not sure if I will be putting the black as a border.  If I do I may just make it 1/2".  I may also add a orange border.  Will be doing some playing around later today.

First attempt at improv

Here is my first attempt at improv.  As I really didn't know what I was doing, this was made from my scraps.  The borders are from left over jelly roll strips.

It is straight line quilted in different widths using my quarter inch foot as well as my open toed foot.

I enjoyed the process of making this and hope to make more.

The Start of my Orange Quilt.

I've joined another block of the month with Caroline over at SewCanShe you can visit her here

Here is the first block - the Bow Tie Block.

My plan is to make all blocks using orange and white Kona.  Going to try QAYG (quilt as you go) and use grey strips for joining.

Proposed finishes for Q1 of 2016 Finish A Long

I wrote down all my UFO's and the list was very long so I trimmed it back to the following.

This is what I hope to accomplish in the Q1.

With fingers crossed I post the following list.

 1.  Bird House Door Hanging - needs binding and a sleeve.

 2.  Table Runner - October BOM with Sandy here needs quilting, binding.

 3.  Table Runner - November BOM with Sandy here needs quilting, binding.

 4.  Place mats to go with #2 - needs borders, quilting, binding.

 5.  Charity quilt - Polka Dots. - needs binding.

 6.  Charity quilt - from the EMQG Fall Retreat - needs binding.

You can view a picture of number 1 on my Instagram page - here

I do not have pictures of the charity quilts.  A member of the EMQG is doing the quilting and I will be getting the quilts back at the January 13th meeting.

This is my first year doing a Finish A Long.  It is time to not just make tops but to finish some as well.

Happy Quilting!!!

Year of the Stash - 2016

This manifesto will start as soon as I spend the credit I have at my LQS.

This may happen today or tomorrow.

1.  I will try to use fabric from my stash (will try hard) in all new projects and UFO's.

 2.  For every month that I do not purchase fabric I will set aside $20.00.

 3.  If out of town, I will limit my purchases to fabric that jumps out at me.

 4.  I will treat myself on my Birthday to at least a fat quarter.

 5.  I will buy fabric, if none in my stash, for a request from the Birthday Bonus Club.

This is going to be a challenge but I'm going to give it my best - wish me luck.
